All session assignments, discussions, quizzes, and the examinations shall be graded and returned to you within approximately one week from the due date (end date) of each session.


TEXT COVERAGE:

This course will be structured to comply with the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission.

IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO READ EACH CHAPTER PRIOR TO COMPLETING THE WEEKLY SESSION.

 

ATTENDANCE:

Students are expected to complete each weekly session timely, by the dates and times indicated.  If the assigned weekly session is not submitted on time, you will receive a ZERO (0) grade for that week's work.  You will also not be able to progress to the next session.  Missing a weekly session is the equivalent of missing three one hour classes.  If you miss two sessions, you MAY be dropped from the course.  It is essential that all weekly session requirements be completed and submitted when indicated each week.  THERE ARE NO EXCUSES.  You should be mindful that you may access your weekly session any time, day or night, to complete the required assignments. There is no scheduled time to begin the session assignments once they are made available; however, assignments must be completed by the due date and time. This is an INET course.  You need only to access a computer and submit the required assignment each week when it is due.

Although the topics to be studied above vary from one chapter to the next, the commonality is that all of the topics studied can have a direct impact on the lives of all persons and the interaction all persons may have with other people and organizations. The students who are registered in this class are expected to read all chapters and complete all of the weekly session requirements. 

 

TO STUDENTS RECEIVING TITLE IV FINANCIAL AID FUNDS:

Effective Fall 2000, students who receive Title IV financial aid funds and who withdraw from ALL their classes before completion of 60% of the term, i.e., the 10th week (or its equivalent for summer terms) may be required to return all or a portion of their financial aid award. If it is determined that funds must be returned to the financial aid programs, students must make satisfactory payment arrangements within 45 days of notification or they become ineligible for further financial aid. Students who are registered with the Center on Disability must inform the instructor by the end of the first week of classes if special accommodations are requested.

Course Description: A study of the key areas of the law as they apply to business including analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of the “S” corporation, “C” corporation, Limited Liability Company, limited and general partnerships and sole proprietorships; the Uniform Commercial Code, including the law of sales, warranties and negotiable instruments; contract law and enforceability; liability for negligence and intentional torts; purchase and sale of real estate; and bailment of personal property.
