Highlights This Week
This week we continue to focus on developing your skill to create single table queries based on Metadata provided for a table in a database system. There are several practice assignments and a weekly assignment related to developing your skill in this area. We will go over the practice assignments during our face to face sessions. You will do the weekly assignment outside of class.
Also this week you will be exposed to using a standalone client based Relational Database Management System RDMS. The System that we will use is Microsoft Access. The exposure to Microsoft Access will be limited. We will only examine writing queries and Microsoft Access. I have placed a few links to online MS Access Tutorials in this weeks module. I will also provide demonstrations of using MS Access during our face to face time this week.
How do I access the SQL View in Access 2016
For those of that would want to follow along in the in class demonstration and bang out a simple query's in SQL using the Access editor this is for you:
Out of the box, how to get to SQL View:

Additionally, we will review the concept of the Three Tiered System and the Enterprise Database Management System.
Finally, we begin to study the concept of Data Modeling. You should begin to study the Visio Tutorial in this weeks module. Data modeling will be a topic that will stretch over several weeks of the course. We will practice modeling over the next three to four weeks. I have forwarded the request to register the current registered students in the class into Dream Spark. It will be a short delay between the administrator receiving the request and the IT generating the email list for the class. sometime this week you should receive and email from Dream Spark notifying you that the registration process has finalized.
